Copic Class June 1

Here are samples of the projects we will be working on during the first Copic class on Tuesday night.   I am sorry they are a bit blurry but they will give you the idea.  This class will be all about blending and I think these projects will give everyone a chance to practice blending colors. I think it will be lots of fun!

Artful Curio

On Sunday Joanne and I spent the entire day with Tim Holtz.  Okay --there were 18 other women there but we sat right up front!  In celebration of their 7th Anniversary Frenzy Stamper hosted two classes by Tim. If you haven't taken a class from Tim you are really missing out.  He is the most generous designer/teacher out there today.  In addition to providing all the tools and materials we needed to decorate our curios, Tim also provided all the trinkets necessary to fill our curio's.  In addition to items from his fabulous idea-ology line Tim brought tons of vintage stuff he has purchased during his travels and on line at ebay.

Copic Marker Classes

Email me to sign up for my intro to Copic Marker classes "How to Wow with Copics".  Classes will be held each Tuesday evening in June from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at the Hobby Lobby at Cactus and Tatum.  We will learn all about the markers and coloring images to complete two fun cards.  I will post a copy of the sample cards later this week.

I made this card for a Quixotic Cards monochromatic card challenge.  I've had the paper so long I can't tell you who the manufacturers were. Oh and yes -- I colored originally white Prima flowers and the white tag with my copic markers!

Who Doesn't Love Bunnies?

Here is a fun card I did for our March card club meeting. The theme was Pink and Green. The green background paper is colored cardstock from Core'dinations.  The color is "Leprechaun" and it was so fun because the "core" color of the paper matches, so when you sand, you don't just get white, you get a lighter version of the green paper. Plus the texture looked like fine linen after it was sanded.

The flowers were originally white Prima flowers that I colored with my copics to match the papers. Never going to have to worry about having just the right colored embellishments anymore!  You can airbrush the embellishments, but I wanted a really rich deep color so I just colored them directly with the brush nib.

Grecian Ladies

  I have wanted to use this stamp for a long time.  I thought is was really intricate but I could never do the image justice.  That is until Copic Markers came into my life! I have no idea what colors I used on this image.  In the future I will have to remember to write them down so I can recreate the effect!

Birthday Redux

Erin's birthday was in March but she wasn't in much of a mood to celebrate.  We didn't want number 24 to go unnoticed so we planned another birthday celebration last week at Roy's at the Desert Ridge Marriott. Here she is looking very grown up and festive.

Copic Markers

I discovered Copic markers last fall and boy did I fall hard for them.  I have always loved color and spent many years working with watercolors and acrylics.  However, I never really got into markers.  Sure there were lots of fun colors and they were pretty to look at but the images they created were never pretty.  There were always streaks in the larger areas and the colors would bleed together creating a muddy mess.  Imagine my surprise when I colored with my first set of Copics.  Heaven on earth!

I was fortunate to be selected for the Phoenix session of the Copic Certification classes and did I have a blast.  The class was taught by Jennie Black with cameo appearances by Marianne Walker. There were several fun stamps we got to play with and every table had a set of various sketch markers.  Most of the class time was spent practicing the various Copic blending techniques.  When I got home I took some of my favorites and created cards with them.  See what you think...
