You're So Tweet

Some Odd Girl's Challenge this week is Scallops Galore! The goal was to use as many scallops in your project as possible.  So here we go!

 

 For this card I used Tweetie Kaylee.  She is so cute and who can resist the sweet little blue bird. For the scallops I used a Bazzill scalloped cardstock.  Using my spellbinders scallop templates, I cut out the image and image mat. The paper I used also had some scallop designs which added to the overall scallops galore theme.  For fun, I used a corner punch and cut the two corners on the left side and offset the corner for two more scallops!

I found the two blue birds in google and using Photoshop I created the little banner in the top right hand side of the card. Then I cut it and matted it in coordinating colors.

The Royal Wedding

This card is for the PaperCrafing Journey: PC Challenge #2, Weddings, Pearls and Lace.  The challenge is to create a wedding project with the optional use of lace and pearls. The sponsor of the challenge is Pixie Dust Studio.  I had never seen any of the images from this sponsor so I decided to use two of their images.  I used Sugar Plum Fairy and Prince Charming and decided they should be married. Here is the result. 

 

For prior images I have been using the Neenah Classic Crest paper and I really like it.  I have been reading on line about Cryogen White paper.  I went to Paper Temptress and ordered some and this is my first attempt at using this paper.  I doesn't take nearly the ink that Neenah does and it the color really flows nicely.  It is also a bit iridescent so it has little sparkles in it.  I am not really happy with the coloring of the hair for both the Bride and the Groom.  I think I will need much more practice with this paper, but I think it will really be worth it.

The journaling on the left side of the card is actually decorative tape. This tape is the quote from 1 Corinthians, 13:4 Love is patient...

I've Just Gotta Be Me

Tiddly Ink's Challenge #34 is "Just Be Me". The challenge is to create a card that is all about me! I used Tiddly Ink's Cuppa Love Set.

 

This card is all about me for the following reasons:

I love coffee and tea and I like to collect teapots.

I love pastel colors and flowers of all kinds.

I love hearts and doodles.

Pink and Blue are my favorite colors.

I love to play around with Photoshop and each one of these papers is a digital paper from Pink Petticoat's Wild Blossom's collection. I digitally manipulated the papers, and printed them for use on this card.  The heart is from the cuppa love collection and inside Photoshop I applied a mask to it to print the heart in one of the Wild Blossom's papers.

The cup and hearts were colored with my copics:

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!

Isn't she sweet? This is Mae from Some Odd Girl.

I created her for several challenges. First, Copic Creations is hosting a "What's New??" Challenge. This is a challenge to try something new -- something you've never done before.  So I created this Easel card.  I had seen this cards all over the internet but I didn't know how to make them -- they seemed complicated. So I searched on Google for a template and turns out they are very easy to make! Second, Some Odd Girl's Anniversary Challenge was to use 1 digital image 3 different ways.  So for my easel card I decided to use Dancin' Mae three ways. I printed one copy of Mae and colored her with my copic markers. Then I created my own background paper in Photoshop using Mae (another first so I guess this also qualifies for the Copic Creations challenge).  I opened Mae again, but at a 50% opacity and copied the layer to create two Dancin' Mae's.

 

Then for the boarder I copied Mae and shrank her down to about 3/4 inch and duplicated the layers until I had enough Mae's to span the bottom of the card. Then Ta Da!  one digi done three ways!

 The final challenge I am entering this card for is Do It with Digi's Challenge #2 Pink and Girlie.
 I think Mae definately qualifies as Pink and Girlie!

In addition to the background paper and boarder that I created with Mae, I also used some ribbon, jewels and embellishments from my never ending stash.

This card was really fun and super easy so I think there will certainly be more Easel cards in my future!

Roxy Love!

This card is for Farm Fresh Friday's Colorful Twist Challenge.  Gothic Roxy seemed perfect for this challenge and I decided to deck her out in Pink and Turquoise!

I also found another use for My Mind's Eye Colorful Christmas paper collection.  I guess I just love the pink and turquoise patterned paper in this collection and have used it for more than just Christmas! The ruler paper is from 7 gypsies and the buttons and embellishment is from my stash.  I colored Roxy with copic markers:

Winter

I have recently inherited a huge, old desk that I use in my office. The desk is made of real wood and weighs a ton! To protect the surface, I have a sheet of glass on top. Last year I purchased a small 7"x 12" letterpress calendar.  It had four sheets, each with three months and fit perfectly under the sheet of glass. This year I decided to make my own and I am starting with this first page which I am entering in Elisabeth Bell's World December Project.

 
I created this calendar page using Photoshop and Elizabeth Bell's Snowbabies stamps I purchased at Belles 'n Whistles.  The two stamps are Snow Fight Snowbaby and Snowball Snowbaby. To color the images I used the following copic markers:

How Distressing!

This week, Phindy's Place is having a "Distressing" Challenge. The challenge includes using distressing ink, distressed or torn paper edges, etc.  My entry for this week's challenge uses the cutest image from Phindy's Place --  Stepping Out Katie. 

 

 

I used Tim Holtz idea-ology's Vintage Shabby paper and distressed it even further with Heidi Swapp's edge distresser. I used the heart pearls and ribbon from my stash and made the flowers using a technique we learned at Teresa Collin's Inspiration Unlimited weekend last year. You cut some circles out of paper, wad them up into little balls, then reopen them.  Next you tear around the edges until you have enough circles to nest into a flower.  Punch a hole in the middle and insert a jeweled brad and you have yourself a distressed flower!  I thought is would be fun to distress the image as well so I wrinkled the paper a bit and distressed the edges as well.  Copics used on the image were:

Going Retro

Today's post is for Mo's Digital Pencil Challenge #64 - Going Retro.  The challenge is to use the image to create a card with a take on retro design by using vintage fabric, colors, or themes from the 30's through the 50's as an inspiration.  I found this paper in my stack and it reminded me of old fashion wallpaper. I am using Mo's Sisters image because it made me think about days gone by.
